What problems are related to tuckpoing?
Rain, snow, ice and constant temperature change are definetely big
enemies for our Chicagoland brick and mortar structures.
Did you know that in most cases, our brick buildings will require
tuckpointing after 15-25 years?
Problems with brick wall:
SPALLING- Cracking and flacking of brick surface caused by moisture
retention, which could lead to brick replacement.
EXPOSED BRICK EDGES- Mortar joint wear exposes more
brick surface , leading to moisture retention and damage to
masonry walls.
EFFLORESCENCE- White powder forming on brick surface
caused by mineral salts, being activated within the brick
